The core loss of linear motor for high-speed maglev train increase the temperature rise and affect the operation performance of the motor. Therefore, it’s necessary to accurately calculate the core loss. Because of the high operation frequency of the linear motor of the high-speed maglev train, the application of Bertotti core loss separation trinomial model is limited. In this paper, an improved ...Show More

We investigate the importance of wide-band coupling of normal modes due to inner core anisotropy. We compare four different seismic models of inner core anisotropy, which were obtained by others using the splitting of Earth's normal modes. These models have been developed using a self-coupling (SC) approximation, which assumes that coupling between nearby modes through anisotropic inner core struc...Show More

The high-frequency transformer design for switch mode power supplies consists of core and winding design. It is necessary to take the cost of power loss and core volume in the long term into consideration during selection of core size, shape and material to produce an efficient transformer. The proximity effect seen in the windings deteriorates the performance of the transformer and can be averted...Show More
Gapped iron-core reactors can obtain larger inductance, but they make larger vibration and noise than other kinds of reactors. On vibration dampers, many researchers kept their eyes on vibration isolation structures or vibration isolation materials. However, they did not compute reactor core vibration under fundamental frequency voltage or harmonic one. Because stress is the inherent reason of vib...Show More
This paper presents initial experiment results toward realizing a multi-core CPU for wireless sensor nodes. The multi-core CPU reduces power consumption with enabling users to easily manage hard real-time tasks. The results show a sensor node with triple CPUs can eliminate about 76 % of power consumption compared to a single CPU sensor node.Show More
Loss reduction at light loads of voltage regulator modules (VRMs) is needed to improve efficiency. Inductor current ripple causes most of the total loss at light loads. Therefore, inductor current ripple reduction is the key to improving light load efficiency. The paper presents a 3D integrated nonlinear coupled inductor (NCI) for VRMs. The inductor is made by two permeability magnetic materials, ...Show More
This paper proposes a new magnetic integration approach that combines all the magnetic components, including the leakage inductor, transformer, and filter inductors in the current doubler circuit. The core structure proposed in this study is applicable to different topologies that incorporate the current doubler circuit. By adopting this all-in-one core structure, the assembly of the magnetic comp...Show More
This paper provides a thorough analysis of the power-system-in-inductor (PSI2) packaging for power modules through FEA simulation and experimentation of electrical and thermal performance. To sufficiently analyze the PSI2 packaging, all tests conducted compare performance of PSI2 to conventional plastic epoxy packaging using identical buck power modules. PSI2 uses magnetic material as both the pow...Show More

Inner core anisotropy inferred by direct inversion of normal mode spectra

Geophysical Journal International
Year: 1999 | Volume: 139, Issue: 3 | Journal Article |
The spectra of 25 inner-core-sensitive normal modes observed following eight recent major (Mw >7.5) earthquakes are inverted for anisotropic structure in the inner core, using a one-step inversion procedure. The mode data are combined with PKP(DF)—PKP(AB) differential traveltime data and the inner core is parametrized in terms of general axisymmetric anisotropy, allowing structure beyond restricti...Show More

Dry type air core reactor is often operated outdoors, and its insulation performance is affected by climate, insulation aging, voltage fluctuation and other factors, which makes it encounter various problems in operation. The results show that the insulation state of the reactor can be evaluated by measuring the distribution current change of the reactor. In this paper, a wireless distributed curr...Show More
The magnetic field energy harvester is suitable for the power source of sensors for power equipment state monitoring, with the advantages of easy installation and high power density. However, when the power line current is too high or the load is too large, the magnetic core used for energy harvesting may be driven into saturation region, resulting in the noise and heating, which affects the insul...Show More
Helicon plasmas are typically associated with a core, a radially localized central area of strong ion light emission. Here, we investigate the role of electrostatic instabilities that lead to the formation of the classic blue core. We show that helicon plasma can also occur without the distinct core. In these conditions, the plasma is dominated by low-frequency resistive drift wave (RDW) instabili...Show More
This article investigates the influence of the winding configurations on the core flux density harmonics of the axial modular flux switching permanent magnet (AM-FSPM) and conventional flux switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine. The relationships between air-gap flux density harmonics and stator–rotor core flux density harmonics of the AM-FSPM machine with toroidal winding (TW) and the FSPM ma...Show More

The design of planar magnetic components for application in voltage regulator modules (VRMs) is investigated. In particular, the application of distributed magnetic structures that facilitate locating the VRM closer to the processor load is proposed, so that interconnect impedance and its effects can be reduced.
