Biography
Ruth F. Curtain was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1941. She received the B.Sc. (Hons.), Dip.Ed., and the M.A. degrees in 1962, 1963, and 1965, respectively, from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from Brown University, Providence, RI, in 1969.,She has held academic appointments at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, during 1970—1971, and at the Control Centre, the University of Warwick, U.K., during 1971—1977. Since 1977, she has been at the Institute of Mathematics, The University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands, where she is an Emeritus Professor in Mathematical Systems engaged in research on mathematical systems theory.
