Biography
Dug Young Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, in 1963. He received the B.S. degree in physics from Sogang University, South Korea, and the Ph.D. degree from the Optical Sciences Center, University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1986 and 1994, respectively.,He then joined the Photonics Research Laboratory, the University of Melbourne, Australia, as a Research Fellow. Since 1997, he has been with Kwangju Institute of Science and Technology (K-JIST) as an Associate Professor. His current research interests are nonlinear optics, optical short pulse generation and soliton propagation, optical measurements on specialty optical fibers, and various photonic devices for optical communication applications.(Based on document published on 25 June 2003).
