I. Introduction
The outage of a transmission line can have a great impact on the reliability of the system. For simplicity, the combination of distance protection with autoreclose function has been widely employed to clear transient faults that occur on the protected transmission line [1]. Distance protection operates using voltage and current measurements to determine whether a fault is in the protection zone of the transmission line [2]. However, the basic distance protection scheme only provides instantaneous zone 1 tripping for 80%-90% of transmission line length to be sure that does not overreach the end of the line section [3]. The zone 2 time delay distance protection will cover the rest of the transmission line, as consequence, there is a fault on the transmission line that forced outage of the transmission line even from a transient fault.
