Pattern formations and self-organization of plasmas are phenomena that have been reported for various applications in which plasmas interact with media. These include material synthesis, electric propulsion, and medicine. Patterns vary by plasmas found in different discharge processes such as vacuum or high-pressure arc, low- and high-pressure glow, and streamer discharges. The existing breadth of research in this area shows that pattern formations depend on experimental conditions such as current, pressure, plasma species composition, properties and topology of material interacting with the plasma.
