Abstract:
Periodic nanostructures in OLEDs offer the possibility to tailor the radiation pattern by resonant light outcoupling. Such structures are simulated with the FDTD method. We show that absorbing dielectric layers decrease the peak outcoupling intensity while metallic layers can increase the peak intensity because the resonant guided mode is pushed away from the metal and therefore experiences lower absorption. For comparison, measurement results are provided.
