The report presents new experimental results obtained on 7 GHz pulsed magnicon amplifier. In 1996, the following parameters were achieved: maximum output power of 46 MW, efficiency of 49%. We relate the further magnicon parameters improving with elimination of electromagnetic fields disturbing in the output cavity induced by the large coupling of holes with the loads.Show More
The magnicon belongs to the class of high power RF sources where a modulation is provided by the beam circular deflection and it is an advanced version of a gyrocon. The first magnicon was built and tested in Novosibirsk in the mid 80s. The power of 2.6 MW has been obtained for the frequency 915 MHz and pulse duration 30 mcsec, the electron efficiency has been 85%. Good results obtained during inv...

The experimental results on heating of a dense plasma by an electron beam on the GOL-3 device are presented. The relativistic electron beam is injected into a 7-meter long plasma column of a mirror machine. The beam can transfer about 20-30% of its energy into 1-10 keV plasma electrons due to collective effects. These electrons are slowed down in a 0.5-3 meter long gas cloud of a 1016-1017 cm-3 de...Show More
The review of activity on the GOL-3 program is presented. The first part of the results is concerned with the experiments on the uniform plasma heating by a 100 kJ E-beam. Heating of the bulk plasma electrons up to 1 keV at 1015 cm-3 density is achieved. The second group of experiments deals with so-called "two-stage" dense plasma heating. The 1016-1017 cm-3 hydrogen bunches of 0.5-3 m length are ...Show More
A diagnostic package has been developed and fielded to measure the parameters of 100 kJ microsecond relativistic electron beam and plasma in the experiments on beam propagation in gas with and without preionization through a 1-meter solenoid. The main results of the experiments are presented.Show More
