I. Introduction
An antenna array has the advantages of high gain and high directivity. It has been widely applied in satellite communications, radar systems, and wireless systems [1]. The technique of antenna array feeding includes series, parallel and hybrid one the former two. The series feeding method has good virtues of simple structure, low loss and small and small footprint [2] [3]. A four-element series antenna array with parasitic patches is proposed in [4], which achieved higher gain, with a maximum gain of 14.5dB. The use of electromagnetic (EBG) and metamaterial (MTM) structure [5] can well realize the antenna unidirectional radiation and low profile. In this paper, a series fed 1×3 antenna array is proposed covering ultra-wide bandwidth. The proposed antenna has directional radiation pattern with small sidelobe.
