Information and Communication Technologies are one of the most important enablers of green transition. The clearly stated goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% or more by 2030 and becoming a carbon-neutral continent by 2050 require support that goes beyond current academic and industrial research. Abstract:
ICT is an important enabler of the green transition. In this talk, we will address the challenges and opportunities of green transformation for ICT engineering education and research. Using selected research activities, we will show how ICT engineering fits into these sociotechnical systems improving quality of life. In the end I will also address the importance of educating students that green transition can be their career choice.
