Abstract:

This paper presents the global sensitivity analysis of cable crosstalk against uncertainty of parameters using the Sobol' method. The impact of these uncertain parameters is ranked based on the Sobol' indices. The result shows that the Sobol' method is feasible for global sensitivity analysis of three-conductor transmission line crosstalk model.

I. Introduction

Crosstalk may cause failure or malfunction of connected devices, resulting in potential safety or reliability issues. To predict the crosstalk depends greatly on the geometry parameters of cables, such as the radius of each wire, the distance between two wires, or the height of wires above the ground, etc. However, the deviations of these parameters are inevitably incurred due to the manufacturing and assembly in applications. It is challenging to exactly evaluate and analyze the crosstalk. Therefore, sensitivity analysis [1] is employed to determine how the uncertainties of these parameters affect the crosstalk level, and which are the most sensitive parameters. Compared to the local sensitivity analysis, global sensitivity analysis is able to quantify the uncertainty of each input parameter to the model output within its variation range, including not only the individual contribution of the parameters but the contributions of their interactions.
