Mutual Inductance of Coils for Wireless Power Transfer

As the key link of the wireless energy transmission system, the mutual inductance of two coils and internal resistance of the coil determine the transmission efficiency of the wireless energy transmission system. However, the present calculation of mutual inductance is not accurate. The commonly used space spiral and plane spiral coils are taken as the research object, based on parameter equations. An accurate mathematical model is established and the relationship between the geometric characteristics of the coil and the mutual inductance is analyzed. Through simulation verification of COMSOL, a more accurate calculation method is obtained. (CSRSWTC Abstract).

I. Introduction

Recently, there has been increasing interest in inductive coupled wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. Wireless power transmission technology has broad application prospects for human medical equipment, electric vehicles, and aerospace, because of its good adaptability to more complex and harsh environmental factors such as dust and outer space. However, for practical considerations, it is very important to improve the overall efficiency of the wireless transmission system. Among them, the design of the coil is a very critical part to the improvement of the system efficiency.
