Nan Sun (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree (Hons.) from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2010.
He is currently a Temple Foundation Endowed Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin. He has published over 140 journal and conference papers, including over 60 papers at premier journal (JSSC) and conferences (ISSCC/VLSI/CICC) in the IC design field. He has also written seven book chapters and holds seven U.S. patents. As an advisor or a coadvisor, he has graduated 21 Ph.D. students, who are holding key positions in both academia and industry. His current research interests include analog, mixed-signal, and RF integrated circuit (IC) design, analog circuit design automation, sensor interfaces, miniature spin resonance systems, and solid-state platforms to analyze biological systems for biotechnology and medicine.
Dr. Sun received the NSF Career Award in 2013 and the inaugural IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society New Frontier Award in 2020. He was the AMD Endowed Development Chair from 2013 to 2017. He has served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems—I: Regular Papers and the Journal of Semiconductors and a Guest Editor for the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits. He has also served in the Technical Program Committee of the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference and the IEEE Asian Solid-State Circuit Conference. He was the Co-Chair of the IEEE Solid-State-Circuits Society and Circuits-and-Systems Society Joint Chapter, Central Texas Section, from 2011 to 2018, and received the Chapter of the Year Award in 2014. He is also serving as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Circuits-and-Systems Society for the term of 2019–2020.
