I. Introduction
High dynamic range (HDR) imaging is the technique that aims at reproducing a greater dynamic range of luminosity than standard digital imaging or photographic techniques. Since the resultant HDR image often contains more information of scenes and can bring better visual experience for human, it has been extensively applied to a wide range of applications, such as computer games [1], movies [2], medical imaging [3] etc. The conventional HDR imaging technique mainly focuses on adopting the specialized HDR camera to directly capture HDR images. However, such a specialized camera is often extremely expensive for general customers or companies. Thus, a common way for HDR imaging is to reconstruct an HDR image from the images captured by a conventional digital camera using reconstruction algorithms. In this study, we term this kind of techniques as HDR reconstruction for simplicity.
