Abstract:

To analyze the influence of shaft misalignment on the transmission characteristics of gearbox, a mechanical model of gears considering friction, coincidence, assembly errors and other real teeth meshing conditions is proposed. The time-varying mesh stiffness (TVMS) is accurately calculated by potential energy method. The influence of assembly errors on gear meshing is simulated, and the corresponding relationship between different forms of assembly errors and TVMS, transmission error (TE) is obtained. Finally, the TE curves under normal mesh condition and unbalanced load are obtained by experiments. The experimental results prove the accuracy of the deduction.

I. Introduction

In process of gear transmission, eccentric load is one of the main causes of abnormal meshing, such as root fracture and pitting corrosion of tooth surface. Parallelism error of shaft and installation error of gear are the main reasons for offset load [1 –5]. In practical industrial applications, the adjustment of gear assembly usually relies on workers experience, while in the process of theoretical research, gear meshing under ideal conditions is usually considered. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the change of TVMS and TE caused by gear eccentric load for understanding the causes of gear vibration and noise and gear fault diagnosis.
