Investigation on Dielectric and Thermal Properties of Phantom for Focused Microwave Thermotherapy

A temperature visualized phantom is needed for use with Focused Microwave Thermotherapy(FMT), and several phantom samples were produced for this purpose. Especially, phantom added with thermochromic pigment were measured and confirmed of the dielectric and thermal properties.

1. Introduction

Microwave Focused Thermotherapy(FMT) is a remarkable breakthrough in technology, offering a non-invasive alternative to a medical treatment. This technology raises up temperature at focal spot by localizing microwave energy [1]. It does not require radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or surgery, resulting is less collateral damage to the patient. Moreover, microwave has advantage that pass through solid bone or air, so it suitable for treatment a pain around the bones.
