Abstract:

In order to have a compact power sources the Flux Compression Generator (FCG) development has been started since 1940 and this generator is able to generate Pulse Power. This paper presents the modeling of FCG considering the helical structure with help the Matlab Simulink in order to have current gain parameters. This modeling is used for the performance analysis of the generator and also the fundamental ideas of FCG along with applications are also discussed in detail to provide in depth understanding.

I. Introduction

In military operations the requirement compact power is very essential where the conventional power sources are not available the Flux compression generator (FCG) is able to serve as such power sources. FCG is based on explosive pulse power source. Since the 1940s, work on FCG has been started and it has been studied. The initial work was done in classified laboratories due to military nature Historically, FCG were used mainly in physics experiments dealing with charged particle diodes and imploding plasma. The main area of use was in military applications, which largely are still restricted.
