Abstract:

Speech visualization, which can visually and clearly show the pronunciation process and mechanism of phonatory organs, and can be widely used in language education, medicine, film and television animation and other fields, has become an important research topic in recent years. This paper presents a survey on recent model-based methods of tongue visualization. Three models of physiological model, geometric model and physical model are mainly introduced. Simple comparisons among these three methods and future trends for speech visualization are also presented.

I. Introduction

Speech visualization refers to the process of visualizing the movement of each phonatory organ during the pronunciation of the speaker. And it's widely used in language education. Foreign language learners, children and hearing impaired can understand pronunciation more exactly and easily by observing the movements of the phonatory organs, especially the tongue, during pronunciation.
