Method of two-stage complex diagnostics of digital substations on the basis of the full-scale-model tests theory

This article addresses the issue of diagnostics of the complex technical systems by the example of digital substations via the analysis of the existing diagnostic methods and approaches to mathematical modeling with the subsequent realization of the digital substation hardware-software model. The question of diagnosis is relevant in view of the fact that the existing energy infrastructure in Russia, in most cases, is out of date and is already operating at maximum capacity which exacerbates the problem of ensuring the reliability and the quality of power supply and impose additional restrictions on the electricity generation. There is a need to replace more than 50% of the energy infrastructure for new equipment, as its lifetime expired a long time ago. In this regard, the problem of increasing the reliability of work of the existing distribution substations and construction of new ones, namely, digital substations, arises. A digital substation is a relatively new technology, respectively, the diagnostics of such systems has not been sufficiently studied yet.

I. Introduction

Electricity consumption in Russia, despite some signs of delay of economic body height, increases. The average annual index of an increase makes about 1, 2% in recent years. Increase in an index was predicted up to 2% till 2020 [1], but according data to «SO UPS», JSC, electricity consumption in the unified electric power system of Russia in January, 2016 made 99, 4 billion kWh that there is 2, 3% more than the volume of consumption for January, 2015 [2]. The submitted data confirm need of increase in electricity generation, and also increase in load on the power grid.
