I. Introduction

The application of optimization techniques is generally required during the several phases of development of antenna sub-systems. From the initial idea, aimed at identifying innovative concepts with improved features, to its preliminary design, with performance maximization within the environment constraints, to prototyping and industrialization, targeting an effective/efficient production while minimizing costs, the extensive use of optimization at Space Engineering is described in the paper by means of actual examples derived from the relevant heritage.
