Design and implementation of a automatic carpet edge-cutting system

At present, the edge-cutting of Wilton Carpet mainly rely on manual operation. Artificial cutting method has the disadvantages of low production efficiency, poor cutting quality, and is easy to be affected by human factors. The edge-cutting system with computer vision can overcome the disadvantages of manual cutting, but the existing systems have the disadvantages of high cost, low efficiency and so on. In this paper, a automatic carpet edge-cutting system based on computer vision is designed. The system is calibrated by standard part method, obtains the carpet edge image through the ethernet camera, gets the offset distance between the cutting position and the cutting tool by image processing technology, and controls the cutting tool and the cutting position in a straight line by PLC. Finally, the experimental results show that the system can automatically cut the carpet edge well.

I. Introduction

Carpet is a common decorative material. At present, the carpet edge is cut by manual cutting or cutting system based on computer vision. However, Artificial cutting method has the disadvantages of low production efficiency, poor cutting quality, poor working environment and so on, and the existing cutting systems based on computer vision are costly, inefficient, and the cutting quality is not very good.
