I. Introduction
The permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) have been widely employed in various applications due to the advantages of high efficiency and high torque density, etc. Explicit position sensors (e.g., encoders and resolvers) are normally utilized to obtain the real-time rotor position information to control PMSMs. However, in the meantime, increased system cost and volume, related reliability issues, and etc., will be produced. Therefore, the position sensorless control methods for PM machines have been studied for several decades [1]–[36].
