Abstract:

Bidirectional DC-DC converters are widely used in many fields, but generally the charge methods of the step-down circuitin these converters have not been gained enough attention. Based on the characteristics of the bidirectional flow of energy, this paper proposes PPNT (Pre charge - Positive and Negative pulse charge - Trickle charge)charge method. Theoretical model is established, and its feasibility is verified with experiments. It is proved that the charge time is reduced by 36.3%, and the battery life is also extended.

I. Introduction

As one kind of bidirectional DC converters, bidirectional DC-DC converters are the combination of the two unidirectional DC-DC converters in essence, which can change the direction of energy flow according to the given instruction. Nowadays, bidirectional DC-DC converters are widely applied in research fields, such as fuel cells, solar photovoltaic power generation, uninterruptible power system, constant power supply, DC micro grid system, etc.
