I. Introduction
Three phase induction motor drive systems (IM drive systems) are the essential part in industries because of their numerous advantages like availability, cost effectiveness etc. Reliability is a great concern for any industry. Due to its continuous use, induction motors are subjected to various types of fault. Faults occurring on the drive part is the switching fault and faults occurring on the machine side is the machine fault. External moisture also affect the induction motor performance [1], [2]. Electrical fault and mechanical fault come under the category of machine faults. Unbalanced faults, under voltage fault, over load fault and earth faults are the different types of electrical faults. Mechanical faults include rotor winding failure, stator winding failure, bearing related faults. The chances of occurrence of different faults varies as stator fault(38%), rotor fault (10%), bearing related fault(40%), other faults(12%)[3].
