Abstract:
Two different methods-a classical and a novel one, using a long-range magnetic force expression for calculating the magnetic force distribution in magnetised material are studied. They are applied to the simulation of an induction motor. The resulting magnetic forces, stresses, strains and deformation are compared. The magnetic and elastic equations are solved utilising a 2D finite element space discretisation. Both static and dynamic (time stepping) simulations are considered.
