1. Introduction
Power systems are composed of four sections: generation, transmission, sub-transmission and distribution. Due to the widespread geographical area which is covered by PD systems, determining location of fault in distribution networks feeders has several problems such as time, costs, and equipment perspective. Thus, identifying the exact location of the fault in PD networks is very important. Three type methods are presented for locating faults in PD such as impedance method, traveling waves and intelligent methods. But, these methods still encounter some problems. The methods based on traveling wave may face problems such as high sampling frequency, complex structure and requirement for the data bank [1]. The intelligent methods might be problematic due to its complex structure as well as the requirement for a large and precise data bank [2]–[3]. Finally, the most resent important issue presents the impedance based fault location method. [4]–[5]–[6].
