Abstract:

We investigated the energy transferring system whose temperature rise was reduced below 2 degrees in case of energy transmission of 20 watts. The system was developed for energy consuming implantable devices, such as totally artificial heart (TAH) or multichannel functional electrical stimulation (FES). Electrical energy was transferred inductively through transcutaneous transformer made of amorphous magnetic fibers. We studied push-pull synchronous rectifier circuits for the implanted converter. Figure-of-eight coils were employed for signal transmission.
