Multi-terawatt installation SZHUR — Powerful generator of X-rays

In the report the project of the powerful generator of X-rays of with accumulated energy 3,2MJ is considered on the basis of a circuitry with an inductive energy store. In a load (vacuum or the plasma diode) is generated impulse of power by duration up to 100 ns at voltage 1 MB and current 10 ... 15 MA. For shaping impulse the electrically exploding wires and a plasma-opening switch are used. Depending on a type of a load (diode, wire liner) the streams of X-rays in ranges of energy 20 ... 100 keV and 0.1 ... 1.5 keV are created. The density of a stream of X-rays in ranges of energy 20 ... 100 keV reaches 10 cal/cm² on the area 30 cm² and 0.1 ... 0.14 cal/cm² on the area 1 m².

Conclusions

Basic difference of installation SZHUR from installations, similar on SATURN, Z are a circuitry with concentrated parameters and multi canal diode. Together they ensure change of section of a beam coupling depending on the sizes and properties of investigated plant. It allows on the same installation to receive densities of a stream of an X-rays in range cal/cm². Set-up allows more flexibly to rebuild parameters of impulse of a X-rays at use all energy of primary energy store. The installation of a SZHUR is intended for multipurpose use (radiation investigation, research equations state of metals, they behavior in extreme requirements etc.
