I. Introduction
Due to the importance of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signalling and its derivatives in many telecommunication technologies, its disadvantages have received considerable attention ever since its inception, especially the problem of high PAPR. In this regard, clipping is a very simple and effective technique to combat high PAPR and has been thoroughly analyzed in the literature, although it could cause a significant increase in symbol error rate (SER). As such, some of the most popular attempts at PAPR reduction proposed more intelligent peak limitation methods at the transmitter which resemble clipping, while adding an inherent recovery ability at the receiver using reserved carriers for this function.
