Abstract:

The National Basic Research Program of China (also called 973 Program) is China's on-going national keystone basic research program. Based on deep consideration, Research projects in resource and environment field of 973 Program are selected as a pilot engineering for data archiving and sharing. Based on actual practices, the paper will introduce the general background, data archiving phases, data archiving metadata standard and tool kits, data archiving content and data sharing platform Web oriented.

Scientific data is the most important basis for scientific research. All the scientific data derived from different agencies by means of national funding should be shared for public. These data can be generally divided into two groups in China.
