Abstract:

We have developed a 300-pin optical duo-binary transceiver, which employed a full L-band tunable-laser array and a variable optical attenuator, for L-band DWDM network. Transmission was demonstrated up to a chromatic dispersion of 3000 ps/nm.

1. Introduction

The increase in network traffic has increased the need for a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) network [1]. To realize such a network, transceivers must be equipped with a full-tunable light source and a receiver with a wide dynamic range. In addition, communication distances must be increased by using such technologies as dispersion compensation and a new modulation scheme.
