Abstract:
Perfect correlations between six electromagnetic components of a polarized source effect an efficient aperture for a solitary electromagnetic vector-sensor which is able to simultaneously collect the orthogonal electric and magnetic-field vectors. Single-vector-sensor direction finding is thus possible. Three critical aspects on direction finding of non-circular instead of circular sources with one electromagnetic vector-sensor including (1) array processing capacity, (2) development of closed form approach using second-order-statistics only, (3) direct colored noise suppression are herein addressed. Three subspace based single-vector-sensor 2D direction finding schemes, termed virtual-MUSIC, noncircular-ESPRIT and conjugate MUSIC, are proposed to process more number of sources than size of single-vector-sensor (six), reduce computation complexity, and deal with colored-noise, respectively
