Introduction (1 Page)
In recent years, systems based on Open Source Software (OSS) have become commonplace, impacting every internet user who searches on Google, shops at Amazon.com, or trades on eBay [1]. OSS has resulted in the successful development of a wide variety of software tools, from large general-purpose operating systems to small custom pieces of software [2]. Successful examples of OSS include the Linux operating system; web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox; the Apache web server; several database systems; programming development environments such as Eclipse; and productivity suites such as OpenOffice.org.
