Abstract:

Real-time electromechanical transient digital simulator simulates the transient process of power system after fault or other disturbances, and provides an ideal platform for fault-analysis, model validation and physical device testing. Providing interface for physical device and realizing the tests of dynamic component and automatic control devices are important functions of power system simulator, which can be used in many fields. The physical device interface of digital simulator involves both hardware and software parts. A practical method is presented to implement the software parts of physical device interface. Based on the presented method, an interface between physical device and electromechanical simulator is implemented. Two test cases, CEPRI36 and Central China power system, are used for a PSS device test. The hardware-in-loop testing results are very close to those of digital model, which validate the rightness of presented method.

I. Introduction

Currently, many control apparatuses and measuring devices are installed in power system, such as FACTS device, DC control apparatus, protective relaying device, and system stability monitoring and control device. Along with the actualizing of nation-wide interconnection of power grid in China, more automatic control devices, such as TCSC, dynamic and static SVC, will be used in power system. Before the applying of these devices into system, extensive simulating tests should be carried out on real-time simulator to study and verify the influences of these devices on power system.
