Abstract:
This paper considers the subject of distribution transformers no-load losses and the factors that influence these losses. This paper reviews methods to correct errors in no-load loss measurement caused by excitation voltage distortion and temperature. These methods depend on the ability to separate no-load losses into its hysteresis and eddy current loss components. Accordingly, methods used to separate the no-load losses into its constituent parts are also reviewed. Comments regardings the application of loss separation to transformer cores, as opposed to Epstein samples, are included to serve as a basis for future investigations.
