Abstract:
Interference between beams of a multiple-beam phased array can be minimized by reducing the sidelobes of each beam in the overlap area. The sidelobe reduction can be accomplished by adjusting the phase and/or amplitude distribution across the face of the array. Since changing the amplitude distribution reduces the efficiency of the array, changing phase-only has been investigated. The algorithm presented numerically solves for the phase on each antenna element required to minimize the beam interference under the constraint where some elements have failed.<>
