Abstract:
A pattern reconfigurable patch antenna suitable for wireless communication and satellite communication is described. Based on a quasi-Yagi microstrip patch antenna, the antenna reconfigures the pattern by using reconfigurable electromagnetic bang gap (EBG) structures. The circular polarization main lobe of the antenna covers the elevation range from 0/spl deg/ to 50/spl deg/ with a peak gain of 8.6 dBi around 9.9 GHz. Full azimuthal coverage can be obtained by changing the states of the EBG structures.
