1. Introduction
Impulse Radio (IR) is the best candidate of Ultra Wide Band (UWB) systems for low complexity, low power consumption, and low price because of the usage of baseband transmission technique. The pulse width used in IR-UWB communication systems is only hundreds of picoseconds, which spreads signal energy typically from near DC to several GHz. This kind of signal can radiate directly by appropriate antennas. Thus, without RF modules, baseband transmitters of IR-UWB communication systems are much simpler than traditional carrier transmitters.
