Abstract:

We include in a traditional Finite-Difference Time-Domain simulator different models to describe the carriers dynamics in MQW materials. The mode-locking maps of a 5QW laser obtained with the implemented models are compared.

I. Introduction

Multi-Quantum-Wells (MQW) are nowadays used in a wide variety of optical devices. On these devices models have been developed to gain a deepest knowledge of their physical properties. In some of them non uniform carrier distribution in the wells has been considered, but never, to our knowledge, the longitudinal and transversal effects have been taken into account at same time.
