I. Introduction
The discovery of superconductivity at 39 K in [1] has generated great interest worldwide in both fundamental studies and practical applications. The increasing interest in wire and tape for future applications in magnetic fields of a few Tesla and temperatures between 4.2 K and 20 K is the consequence of the steadily improving transport current carrying capability. Many studies have been undertaken in an effort to develop a long conductor that would lead to new possibilities of practical applications.
