Abstract:
The authors describe the functionality of the general purpose visual simulation system (GPVSS), developed as part of a simulation support environment. GPVSS helps a simulationist to: (1) graphically design a simulation model and its visualization under a novel conceptual framework; (2) interactively specify submodel logic; and (3) automatically generate the executable version of the model in C programming language, while maintaining domain independence. GPVSS is developed on a Sun 3/160C computer workstation using the SunView graphical user interface. It consists of over 11000 lines of documented code. The functionality and usage of GPVSS are illustrated by an example problem.<>
