Abstract:

The optical modulation characteristics of a 5.8 GHz-band OFDM signal modulated by an EA modulator have been experimentally evaluated. No CNR degradation of the OFDM signal was observed when the RF power and bias voltage were optimized.

1. Introduction

Recently intelligent transport systems (ITS) services are spreading in Japan and the electrical toll correction (ETC) system has been already realized by using dedicated short reach communication (DSRC) system on the expressway. The communication system between a vehicle and roadside antenna base stations along a expressway is expected to be realized to provide broadband data services.
