I. Introduction
Consistent with the pursuit of efficient, economical, and sustainable trade, multimodal transport has become an essential form of modern logistics transport, and multimodal transport operators (MTOs) have ushered in wide-ranging development opportunities. However, the current operation system of multimodal transport mainly has the following two major problems: 1) the use of customer classification strategy is less, MTOs mostly do not carry out customer classification, and directly undertake customer transportation needs, or only sign transportation contracts with large customers and ignore the customer classification of the spot market. 2) The optimization of multimodal transport solutions and capacity allocation are treated as two independent parts of the study, and there is a lack of joint research. If these problems are solved, it will effectively improve the operational efficiency and profitability of multimodal transport operators, and thus increase the market share of multimodal transport in the transportation industry. We address these two major issues in this paper.
