Abstract:

Skin cancer has become a major concern in the recent times and a significant health risk. It can be effectively treated if early diagnosis is done. This paper focuses of the detection of skin cancer by the use a sub domain of Machine Learning - Deep Learning. In this paper we have implemented and evaluated a Deep learning algorithm - Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). The implemented model in this study has given an accuracy of 96%. This Research focuses on the utilization of these advanced technologies in the combat of melanoma and also discusses the impact they can have in enhancing the overall patient outcome.

1. Introduction

The animal skin acts as a barrier by protecting us from all the harmful elements in our surroundings. Melanin is a pigment within the skin that plays its role of absorbing UV radiations, and shield us from its harmful effects. Skin cancer, is basically the abnormal growth of skin cells, poses a health risk, and has a chance of spreading to other parts of the body.
