Influence of Kinematic Parameters on Fuel Consumption in Cars

The fuel consumption of a car is affected by the technical parameters of the car, the road surface and complex operating conditions. In determining the fuel consumption, it is necessary to choose specific criteria that can be determined quantitatively such as the vehicle's running cycle, vehicle speed or vehicle mass, which are the kinematic parameters of the car. Using the Matlab Simulink software tool to simulate, the results obtained are two cases of the relationship between car fuel consumption and vehicle speed and vehicle mass. This article presents the work of the group of authors who analyzed the influence of some kinematic parameters such as vehicle speed and vehicle mass on fuel consumption. The vehicle speed is determined from the FTP 75 inner-city vehicle cycles and the WHET highway vehicle cycles. The vehicle mass is changed by increasing the original vehicle mass by 375 kg to 1545 kg after surveying. The results of paper shown the City vehicles moving have higher fuel consumption than highway vehicles, the difference is 20%. High mass vehicles consume more than low mass vehicles, the difference is 15%. Evaluation by the regression correlation function on the influence of the two parameters of vehicle speed and vehicle mass shows reliable results. It is observed that vehicle speed has a greater influence on fuel consumption than vehicle mass.
