Multi-timescale coordinated scheduling of integrated energy systems with multi-link flexibility mining

Traditional power systems lack sufficient flexibility. Integrated Energy Systems (IES), which couple electricity, heat, and gas, can enhance operational efficiency through the coordinated complementarity of heterogeneous energy sources, further releasing flexibility. The study seeks to investigate the ability of flexibility resources to absorb wind power, aiming to fully explore the flexibility resources of multi-energy coupling and improve the flexibility and economy of IES operations. Firstly, an electrical-heat-gas coupled integrated energy system model is established in more detail, considering the dynamic characteristics in pipe. Then, the supply and demand relationship of flexibility is quantified, and flexibility constraints are established and then and the ability of reduction of the system's flexibility supply deficiency is verified through case analysis in the simulation test system. Finally, scheduling is carried out on two time scales, the day-ahead and intraday, to explore the potential of different types of flexibility resources.

I. Introduction

Flexibility refers to the ability of a system to quickly adapt to dramatic power fluctuations caused by various foreseeable and unforeseeable disturbances within a certain economic cost[1]. With the integration of large-scale renewable energy sources into the grid, the fluctuations and uncertainties generated by the renewable energy output and loads have brought great challenges to the safety and economy of integrated energy system operation. However, the traditional energy system has been difficult to adapt to the fluctuation of supply and demand of different types of energy sources due to the lack of flexibility.
