Abstract:

The importance of planning the implementation of innovations in seaport operations is increasingly significant for achieving a sustainable competitive advantage and adapting to the dynamic challenges of global trade in modern maritime transport. This scientific paper aims to present the framework for planning the implementation of innovations in seaport operations. The paper reviews the relevant literature on innovation planning in seaports and uses strategic analyses as well as strategic management performance metrics on the example of the seaport of Rijeka. The research results show that successful implementation of innovations requires a strategic approach to planning. The planning phases include identifying goals related to innovation, analyzing current resources and technological capabilities, and defining steps for implementation. Special attention is paid to the importance of aligning innovation planning with the seaports’ long-term business goals, which results in increased operational efficiency, competitive advantages, and sustainable solutions. A systematic approach to innovation implementation planning is necessary for seaports to respond to the maritime sector’s dynamic challenges and maintain long-term competitiveness.
