Abstract:
The expansion of the global population has increased the demand for renewable and environmentally friendly energy. This resulted in the search for alternative energy sources, especially those that utilise industrial refuse, such as biomass. Biomass can be converted into biofuels and bioenergy that meet the requirements of society while also having a lower environmental impact, and the materials are frequently inexpensive and easily accessible. Utilising biomass as a source of energy has the added benefit of generating employment opportunities in underdeveloped and undeveloped regions worldwide. This review examines the current energy situation and methods for transforming biomass into energy, underscoring the significance of understanding the properties of biomass materials in order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
