Abstract:

The paper presents a study and analysis of classic and modern technologies for the production of parts from metal powder. Basic technological operations and technical equipment in powder metallurgy are described and discussed. Different manufacturing processes to produce dense and precision components such as additive manufacturing, metal injection molding, spark plasma sintering, and 3D-printing is considered because of their advantages and specific applications. Some applications are given.

I. Introduction

Powder metallurgy employs advanced technological methods for the production of all technological parts using powder materials. The powder metallurgy process is economically advantageous and it is widely used today as an alternative to classical methods. Metal powders are used in the production of high-quality products that require precise work and have applications in engineering, nanotechnology, metallurgy, aviation, and industry. Different technologies can be used in the metal powder production process such as milling or grinding, water, and gas atomization, mixing or blending, compaction, sintering, and secondary operations, [1], [2].
