Abstract:

A central part of the evolution of the Internet, web 3.0, is the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things works to improve the quality of life of its users by making everything we interact with smarter. However, with these improvements comes increased risk as more private data becomes available. This paper discusses the major challenges of keeping IoT users’ data private and the emerging solutions to these issues, such as blockchain, trust managers, and legislation.

I. Introduction

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of connected smart devices, applications, and sensors that work together with minimal user interaction to improve our lives. While this technology is still in its infancy, it has the potential to completely change the way everything operates as everyday objects, buildings, and even cities become smarter. All of this leads to increased convenience and less wasted time for a person living in an IoT environment coupled with the possibilities of a society-wide increase in wellness, safety, and environmentalism.
