I. Introduction
Since late February 2022, concerns about cybersecurity incidents on satellite communications (Satcoms) systems and the dependability of critical business functions have surfaced among international organization [1]. These concerns have been fueled by a series of historical incidents, such as the multifaceted cyberattack on Viasat, a global Satcoms provider, which coincided with the beginning of Russia’s war with Ukraine. This attack resulted in the disruption of Internet services for tens of thousands of satellite modems in Europe and beyond. As a result, addressing cyber threats to Satcoms networks has become an ongoing issue, prompting the United States department of homeland security (DHS) [2] to issue an alert calling for enhanced cybersecurity measures for Satcoms network providers.
